There are many things to think about with an iPod than just the songs that will go on it. For one, someone might be wondering how many songs they can still put on their iPod. If someone is wondering how many more songs they can fit on their iPod, there is a simple way to find out. From the Main Menu, anyone can simply scroll down using the Click Wheel and choose Settings. Then from the Settings menu, they should choose About and press the Select button again to see how many songs are already on the iPod, the total capacity of the actual iPod, and how much space is still available for songs. In general, it is safe to assume that a song will take up 4GB of space on the iPod. So, adding 125 more songs would take up only around half of 1 GB. This means if the Available amount is something like 12 GB, they can load a few thousand more songs and still have plenty of room left for more.

Another way to know how much room is left on an iPod before adding more songs would be to check iTunes. When the iPod is connected, there should be an indicator on the iPod’s icon in the Source list on the left side of the iTunes window. At that point, simply look down along the bottom center of the main window and it should be easy to see a readout that shows how much space is used, and how much space is still free for adding more songs.

Another advantage of the iPod that people don’t always see is that a playlist is capable of being downloaded right on the iPod, although people normally create playlists on the computer in iTunes. It’s called an “On-The-Go” playlist (because the playlist is being created away from the computer). It is fairly simple to download songs onto the on-the-go list. The user simply has to find a song that they want in the playlist, and then click-and-hold the center Select button until they see the song title blink twice (that’s the iPod saying that it’s been added to the On-The-Go Playlist). Songs can be added until the user is ready to start hearing the new playlist. To find the On-the-Go Playlist, the user just has go to the Main Menu, scroll down to Music, choose Playlists, press the center Select button, and it will be at the bottom of the Playlists menu. From there, they can press the center Select button, scroll down to a song, and press the Play/Pause button. And that is all that is required to listen to the On-The-Go Playlist. Once the iPod is in sync with iTunes, the On-The-Go Playlist will appear in iTunes, where it can be tweaked it if need be.

Besides playing music and running slideshows, an iPod can also function as a clock, and it can even display the current time while playing songs. To do this, the first step is to set the current time. Start at the Main Menu, select Settings using the Click Wheel, and click the center Select button. From the Settings menu, choose Date & Time, and then slide around the Click Wheel to set the current time zone, time, and date. Once the time ahs been set, someone can have the iPod display the current time while playing a song, by pressing the Menu button to get back to the main Date & Time menu. Then, where it says Time in Title, press the Select button to set it to On. Now the current time will appear up in the title bar when playing a song.

Ipod Verses MP3 Who is Winning the Music War

Todays technology buzz is constantly sweeping in new trends for every consumer needs. It is impossible to keep up with the latest versions on the market. Consumers wonder which player is unique and offers the superior utility for their dollar. Which one will compliment their needs? With the latest trends at their doorsteps, consumers want to know who is winning the music war, the MP3 player, or the more popular iPod. Both devices have similarities, yet they are constantly trying to outdo each other.

The competition between Sony and Apple does not look like there is any end insight. It seems that before long, they will be racing to invent the iPod or MP3 player cell phone. With only a few differences, it looks like there is a close tie among reviewers, although the public seems to prefer the iPod over the MP3 player. There are many differences that are offered in the rapidly advancing digital era, which in many ways can confuse a consumer. Here are some pros and cons between iPods and MP3 players.

First, the MP3 players can play both WMA files and MP3 files, where iPod can not. WMA files have to be converted into iPod format. MP3 is an audio data file formatted, which differs from an iPod because an iPod is an electronic device made to read and play MP3 files.

Another consideration is the price. Price wise, the MP3 outdoes the iPod. With a MP3 player, it has a multitude of features, which are comparative to higher priced iPods. Also, iPods are the only player that can handle ACC Format. A lot of people do not like to be trapped into only using iTunes, which is what happens when you buy an iPod because other digital media players allow you to use windows media player which then gives you a choice of where you want to buy your music from. Mp3 players come in different sizes depending on how much music you wish to lug around with you in your portable music player. An MP3 players comes in different sizes such as 128, 256, and 512 megabytes of memory and if that is not enough, you can purchase extra memory cards to hold your different styles of music so you can listen to what you feel like at any given time. MP3 players come stocked with video games. MP3 player also have a variety of add on accessories you can purchase to compliment your MP3 player.

iPod offers video and picture capabilities, parental controls, calendar, clocks and alarms, games, audio books, unlimited digital music. The youngest iPod is the fifth generation, which has spiked the interest of consumers throughout the U.S. This version allows consumers video capabilities that allows you to watch movies and television on a two point five inch screen, which will hold over a hundred hours of video. iTunes have a feature which lets consumers buy television programs right off their network so that when you are on the go, you can still catch your favorite television programs and movies. This version packs a whopping thirty gigabyte version and a sixty gigabyte version, which can hold up around fifteen thousand songs. iPod also come with a variety of accessories to play around with. iPods and MP3 players have compatibility to use USB cords to connect to your personal computer this allows you to sync your portable music player with your computer, making it easy to switch music files and to select which play list you want to put on your portable music device.

Whether you opt for an iPod or an MP3 player, you should always look for qualities that will make you feel happy for the decision you have made. It is not easy finding the perfect product, but with all the competition out there, it is hard to follow which brand does what and which brand does not. This makes things seem even more important in terms of making sure you stick with your own preferences. Although it seems as if iPod is winning the music war, the treaty depends on you and the style of digital media you prefer.

Well, I thought is was time to show off another aspect of my collection of Apple hardware, this time, my iPods. And a quick unboxing of my latest new toy…

Apple Ipod Shuffle: Music, in a More Refined Way..

For the last five years, Apple has unequivocally dominated the world of hard disk based audio gadgets. Although, the competition has become more stiff these days, but Apple continues to enjoy a dedicated following. And, at the same time, the sudden surge of music phones have also pushed the limit for such manufacturers, as now they are adding some additional music features to retain their dedicated customers. Consequently, their prices have also gone down. So, now you can afford to buy an Apple ipod with a reasonable price. The newest kid on the block is the Apple iPod Shuffle, which comes equipped with an improved hard disk and now, you can store a far greater amount of music, as compared to earlier Apple iPods.

The Apple iPod shuffle comes with two capacities with 1GB and 512MB options. Since Apple has already released some of the most magnificent iPods, we can expect something special from this newest edition. First of all, the Apple ipod shuffle is the second generation iPod and on the other hand, it is also acclaimed as the smallest iPod ever designed. Hence, it is quite obvious that this iPod has really lost a lot of fat to get that sleek look and there is a certain ommission of any real display. There is only a small tri-colour led, which indicates the basic functionalities to an user. Currently, this iPod is available in five enticing colours –choose your favourite one to enter the ecstatic world of music.

As such lot has been said about this iPod, but does it really serve the basic purpose, as being the cheapest, simplest and smallest iPod to date. So, there are some interesting aspects, which should be considered to review the appropriate usefulness of this music device

Compatible size:

When you take a first look at the new Apple iPod shuffle, you would find it like another small media player. Although, its overall dimensions are slightly larger than the original nano’s screen. On the other hand, its control scheme does look like other iPods, as it comes with similar features like a ”scroll wheel”, which does not offer any scrolling functionality. Thus, you can easily press down on the top and bottom of its wheel to increase or decrease the volume –whenever you want. There are two toggle switches on the bottom of this iPod. One is used as a simple on/off switch, while the another one is a ”shuffle switch”, which randomly adjusts the song order to make things further easier for you. Well, this shuffle iPod is endowed with the latest version of Apple’s highly popular earpbuds, which offer brilliant sound quality.

Improved features:

It is because of its extremely small size, the Apple ipod shuffle does not work with same docking mechanism like other iPods. Instead of that, it utilises a specifically designed USB dock, which can be easily plugged into the headphone jack.

So far, nothing significant has been done in the Apple ipod shuffle, but it does have it all to play all your music – the way you like.
